EO Ignite 2025: Podcast Series

The event lasted three days.
The conversations were built to last.

Entrepreneurs' Organisation (EO) turned a gathering of 180 entrepreneurs into an enduring library of candid founder insight. An on-site pop-up studio invited attendees to step in as guests, hosts or solo voices, then carried their conversations far beyond the room.

A live-event activation transformed into evergreen owned media.

Strategy

The problem was not what happened in the room. It was what disappeared when the room emptied.

EO Ignite created three days of insight, vulnerability, learning and entrepreneurial connection.

A recap video could preserve the atmosphere, but not the depth of the individual thinking shared by members, speakers and delegates.

EO Durban needed a format that could preserve those voices, extend access beyond the 180 people attending in Durban and continue creating value after the final session.

Events end. Useful conversations do not have to.

Creativity + innovation

Put the studio inside the experience.

The podcast studio was not treated as a backstage documentation unit.

It became a visible and active part of EO Ignite, giving participants the opportunity to contribute to the event's collective story.

Instead of interviewing only keynote speakers or organisers, EO Durban opened the format to members and attendees with different experiences, perspectives and preferred ways of speaking.

Campaign line

Step In. Speak Out. Spark Change.

A delegate smiling mid-conversation beside the EO Ignite: The Power Within backdrop under blue studio lighting.

The audience did not only attend Ignite. Selected participants helped create its enduring record.

Participation

One studio. Three ways to contribute.

  • A delegate speaking into a broadcast microphone during an interview recording, red studio lighting behind him.

    Be a guest

Participate in an interview and share the experiences, lessons and ideas behind the entrepreneurial journey.

  • Two delegates recording a peer-to-peer conversation with a camera framed between them under blue studio lighting.

    Host a conversation

Invite another Ignite attendee into the studio and lead a peer-to-peer discussion.

  • A delegate holding a handheld microphone and speaking directly to camera under yellow studio lighting.

    Record a monologue

Deliver a focused reflection, lesson or point of view directly to the audience.

The flexible format gave participants greater ownership over how they contributed and allowed the series to capture different voices, perspectives and storytelling styles.

Execution

Six hours. 13.5 square metres. One working podcast studio.

The full studio was built inside a constrained 2.7 m by 5 m room.

The production workflow had to achieve professional video and audio quality while operating efficiently within the wider event programme.

The achievement is not the equipment. It is the integration of a functional content environment into a live event without disrupting the programme running around it.

Human value

The people in the room became the voices beyond it.

Participants did not deliver brand messages. They used the studio to work through imposter syndrome, near failure, health, belonging and what they intended to carry home.

Every reflection below is drawn from EO Durban's own published episode notes and links to the episode it came from. Nothing here was solicited for this entry.

Long-term value

A finite event became a reusable body of insight.

  1. Live event

180 entrepreneurs gather around The Power Within.

  2. Participation

Attendees step into the studio as guests, hosts and solo contributors.

  3. Production

Recordings are edited and prepared for video and audio.

  4. Distribution

Episodes are published through EO Durban's owned channels.

  5. Discovery

Members and entrepreneurial audiences continue finding and sharing the content.

  6. Owned media

EO Durban retains a growing library that can support community, recruitment, thought leadership and future event promotion.

The first five stages describe established activity and measured results. The final stage describes future utility of the library. It is presented as intent, not as an outcome already achieved.

Ignite ended after three days. Its most useful conversations did not.
